You jinxed it
Thank you for finding those!! Yeah I am flexible, no rush. I will keep learning 🧐
Good point on the volatility, thank you for pointing that out. TDFs are decently diversified and I have a strong stomach so I’m not super concerned.
I’m also considering doing a CD ladder or a T bill ladder but the idea of just auto depositing money into a brokerage is appealing.
If you have the time, read The Little Book of Common Sense Investing by Bogle. It will explain the principles most commenters are espousing here.
There was a short story I read by one of the great Russian authors (name escapes me atm). A young man made a bet with a banker that he would spend 10 years in solitary confinement and be provided with any reading material he asked for. If he could endure it the whole 10 years, the banker would reward him with a handsome amount of money.
He sticks it out for nearly the entire period and leaves the night before the time is up.
Fantastic story, thought about it pretty regularly throughout college.
If this rings any bells, I’d love to be reminded of the name!
Edit: Nvm, I found it! The Bet by Anton Chekhov
Mise en place makes things soooo easy. When I meal prep I chop up all my veg on Saturday and stick it in the fridge, then cook on Sunday. Makes the whole process less overwhelming than doing everything in one sitting.
I wanna say get good gear for your hobbies, but most of us probably don’t need convincing to spend on what we love. I resisted buying a good set of gear for my main hobby for nearly two years, and I wish I’d done it sooner.
Hope it works out!
This is a more involved recipe: https://food52.com/recipes/77349-padma-lakshmi-s-yogurt-rice ; I usually just mix the rice and yogurt, and add salt and peanuts.
You can mix it with rice, have you tried that?
Very cool website, thanks for sharing!
Plus the flowers!
Nobody said Arch yet? The wiki is very comprehensive so you can get by if you’re a newbie plus learn a lot.
If you want to work with the terminal as much as possible, it’s a decent choice. I only start X/my graphical environment if I need to do non-writing/non-coding activities.
You may need a day to configure wifi, Bluetooth, your de/wm of choice, etc., but if you use Ethernet & just install xfce you should be able to hit the ground running.
What I would give for an actual fresh greengrocer 😔
Why is this downvoted? There are more kinds of beans than you can buy in the typical American supermarket. Tell me you’ve never been to an ethnic grocery store without telling me 😒
Monument Valley. Got the first one for free during a promotion but loved it enough to pay for the sequel and extra levels.
