  • I don’t understand that. What did Democrats do or say to make you claim they’re “revolving around playing victim and identity politics”? Could you give some examples of that behavior?

I mean, maybe I am too far left or just too European, but from my POV it clearly looks as if it’s the rightwingers who are doing their part of identity politics by fighting the “woke” people vigorously.

While Democrats just want minorities and disadvantaged groups to enjoy the same rights as everybody else. Which I would appreciate.

  • That’s kind of true from a moral viewpoint. But those are of no good because they don’t change anything.

The Democratic Party is a spectrum from social democratic to pretty conservative politicians, no fascists.

I think Bernie Sanders is quite on the left even by European standards. But he’s not a communist.

If you want more left politics vote progressive Democrats in every election, especially those local and regional ones. That’s the way to get a left party in the USA. And that will make a more left democratic candidate for president possible and eventually some left governers and a left President.

  • Emotional it’s a totally proportional response according to what the pranksters did to him. Humiliating people can easily provoke them to act aggressively. Especially people of low status who can’t afford a lawsuit. Every police officer knows that.

But of course a human society should have laws to prevent its members from this kind of situations.

It should be illegal to provoke, assault, harass, disrespect , threaten, or humiliate anybody in the way those pranksters did.

And it should be illegal for any random guy to carry a loaded and unlocked gun around in his pocket.

But because neither is illegal in the United States, the number of gun victims there is more similar to that in war zones.

And obviously none of the Americans in this thread give a shit about the social problematics of the case and rather fight irreconcilably over defending or blaming the shooter.

Socialism is when you don’t have to do alienated work. And when noone else has to. Of course the productivity will be higher if you share the means of production with others. But it’s perfectly fine to work on your own too and harvest the fruit of your work. As you know, nobody gets rich by his own hands work, but you can get along. Capitalist exploitation starts when other people work for you and when you take the added value for your own benefits.

  • Might be called patriotism in some cases. Or even as science, which is what racism was called not so long ago.

People generally tend to believe what those around them believe and are not particularly good at challenging their own beliefs.

Many people who pride themselves on having overcome some common delusion fall into the next one. Above all, not being religious indicates that people have joined a different group of peers with different beliefs. Which, more or less by accident, might turn out to be less delusional.

No need to feel superior. Magical thinking is deeply rooted in our biology.

Even I sometimes approach a street lamp and hear myself say, “Go green.” Isn’t that a prayer?
