Could you imagine if the Nazi’s had the amount of data, information, and surveillance capabilities of modern day US?
you can look at today’s Israel and see your question partially answered

you might disagree with me here, but IMO hating Musk (or any billionaire) is morally right though
I think the worst part of Huang’s keynote wasn’t that none of this mattered, it’s that I don’t think anyone in Huang’s position is really thinking about any of this at all. I hope they’re not, which at least means it’s possible they can be convinced to change course. The alternative is that they do not care, which is a far darker problem for the world.
well yeah… they just don’t care, after all the climate crisis is somebody else’s problem… and what really matters is that the line goes up next quarter, mankind’s future be damned
complaining about downvotes usually gets you more downvotes more often than not

Most people aren’t migrating of their own volition but fleeing war and famine. People I’ve seen advocating for “regulations for immigration” would rather have those people dying of hunger or exposure at their borders instead of letting them in.
I’m in the weird position of wanting both - closed borders and a reversal of climate change
then I guess the weird epiteth of “enlightened idiot” fully applies to you
I’ve asked Gemini for a summary
man you’ve post the video and couldn’t even summarize it yourself? talk about laziness huh
We spent decades depicting science fiction AIs as the key to giving humanity true freedom from mandatory labor
Very few people benefit from automation and AI. Most of us will eventually be replaced by an IA and our only freedom will be to starve (or to rebel, who knows)
the fact that
Catholicismany religion still existsat the scale it doesis mind blowing and frankly horrifying.
Wow, a rabid American. I hope that the bitten lady has all her vaccines up to date
Prof Andrew Dessler, at Texas A&M University in the US, said the record set in 2023 was not surprising: “Every year for the rest of your life will be one of the hottest [on] record. This in turn means that 2023 will end up being one of the coldest years of this century. Enjoy it while it lasts.”
I feel sorry for those younger than me. It will suck to grow up with this climate and things are bound to get even worse
used to be a rhythmbox guy but I’ve been using audacious for a few years now
I’m starting to think maybe I’ve just been pushing aside the reality that when the internet was good, it wasn’t as popular
nah you’re just becoming older
her little private jet already put out more CO^2 this year alone than everyone on lemmy combined
billionaires are shitty people, period.
it’s worthwhile to remember that said rich nations only became rich by heavily exploiting the global south
