Efficient at confusing people, perhaps. Personally, I have no idea what you’re on about.

I give it a perfect 5/7
I read the wiki page. Pretty barebones, but it did link to https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34705968
In theory, I could entertain an argument about having criminals repay some of the costs of dealing with them, that’s not what’s going on here.
The sum that is able to be collected doesn’t go straight into the county coffers, either - the jail contracts with a company
The jail gets 30%, the company gets 70%.
It really just looks like just another way to exploit prisoners for profit.
Why do you think most people overload their washer?
It’s a routine chore that basically everyone has to do. It seems similar to saying that most people wash their dishes wrong
Tiny washing machine? 4 loads sounds like a month’s worth of clothes to me.
A lie spreads worldwide before the truth contradicting it can be typed, unfortunately.
Well, if anyone knows about rigging elections, Putin certainly qualifies!
Alphabet spent $70 billion on stock repurchases last year. Their server costs aren’t a problem.
I was just going to upvote them.
climate change, tipping point
Yeah, fair point. The bit about “coldest, hottest, wettest, driest” is pure BS, though. I need receipts if you honestly believe that, but I think it’s just an ill-considered rhetorical flourish.
fascism problems
Definitely not unprecedented.
aliens
OK, now you’ve lost me. I’m not terribly interested in going into conspiracy-theory land.
Technically, all times are unprecedented since we don’t repeat years!
The times we’re living in? Definitely tumultuous, definitely not unprecedented. Political strife? There are obvious comparisons being made with the 1930s or the 1850s. Covid? The Spanish flu ravaged the world a century ago. Drug legalization? How about the end of Prohibition?
It turns out that a lot of people really just like shouting “unprecedented” because it makes their speech sound more dramatic.
This really annoys me, too. The layout makes me think there’s new, different information in each spot, but really it’s hardly more than repeating the headline 3 times :(
IDK, it seems more like SHOP SHOP SHOP in the U.S. than anything religious.
Rather foolish reply, don’t you think? Muslims aren’t known for celebrating Christmas.
My wife used to work in a call center for a major corporation (started in mid-late 2020). During recruiting, they claimed that WFH was a possibility within certain parameters.
… After she started, it turned out that the most important parameter was “based on seniority”. Between that and their low turnover rate among longer-term employees, I don’t think she ever would have been allowed WFH.
She’s a lot happier in a different job now.
I couldn’t name the group of people that it discrimates (sic) against though.
My best guess is people with disabilities, but I couldn’t really speculate on specifics.
Thank you for writing 57°F instead of 57.20°F :)
Fleet Command! I’ve played it. Fun little tactical naval game. I think it was originally released as Jane’s Fleet Command.
I don’t remember anything about VB scripting, though.
Poor access to iron, too. He’s putting in a ton of effort to get like 5 grams of actual metal from the iron bacteria.
