I’m sure there’s deeper takes on this but from my understanding, it’s a mix of things: 1) he convinced them he’s not like other politicians (which is true, he was not a politician at all) and 2) he convinced them he’s the “pull yourself up by the jockstrap” American dream and everyone can be like him - that’s just the typical American lie they’ve been using for decades if not longer. Then sprinkle a little bit of christofacist fear mongering in there and you got some undereducated folks excited to see someone who’ll “fight” for their American dream.

I would spend all 100M to get ads put up all over the country of people who have wronged me and my loved ones. They’ll just be like really awful pictures of them with really petty captions like “doesn’t help carry suitcases”, “laughed at a disabled person”, “sneezed too loud that one time”. That’ll show them.

I was listening to this podcast that had an ad for a government system to help out people experiencing substance use (specifically alcohol) issues…directly followed by a government liquor store ad. In every single episode.

Actually we just finished our switch from Skype to Teams and honestly, as much as I love having GIFs to express my disdain for work, at least Skype could group chats, didn’t require all the RAM in the world, and automatically saved chats which, in a records management hellscape was an absolute lifesaver. Also my headphones would automatically answer a call when I put them on my head but I have a feeling that has more to do with the settings than anything else.

Also I’m tired of having to tell people “no we can’t do that because Microsoft hasn’t integrated that very valuable and highly requested feature you’re asking for”

Aside from the Big One (for which I’ve been meaning to make an emergency kit but keep putting off because reasons), we get really bad wildfires now on the west coast so before every summer I load up my inhaler and nasal spray, then I proceed to not go outside for 3 or 4 weeks because outside air bad. Thanks lungs. Thankfully I don’t live where the fires are normally happening, just in the vicinity. if I did, the above mentioned nonexistent emergency kit could be made fireproof and double up for preparedness.

I still enjoy some of the new episodes, though agree it was more entertaining before. This is super nitpicky and probably more to do with my misophonia but the way he inhales while reading really made me angry though.

I am allergic to some types of mouthwash so I was told to use salt water but not as often as you’d use regular mouthwash (only every few days) because it’s rougher on your teeth or some such, I can’t remember the reasoning.

Refried beans are one of those items that need to be a very specific brand (la costeña obviously). Other bean brands are ok but nothing ever comes close.

The packaging can make a big difference though so make sure to use extra care with some no name stuff. The food inside will get freezer burned way quicker with a lot of the shittier no name packaging.

Vitamins and health supplements too. My mom works at a pretty big brand name one of them and they literally package the exact same stuff for a generic brand that’s half the price.
