Rule of 3’s. You can go 3min without oxygen, 3 hrs without shelter, 3 days without water, and 30 days without food. It is a bit of generalization, but its close enough to set priorities in survival situations.

It depends on the exact nature of the failure. Controller errors are usually a complete failure. Media failure (magnetic spots on the disk or failed cells in ssd) are often sporadic and only impact data stored in those spots.
Regardless, drives rarely give you any warning. Look at any warning as a gift and get everything off and replace it ASAP.
self employed handyman pretrial release for a pending child-solicitation case
Jan 6th aside, The Dude works in people’s homes, and there’s at least enough evidence to change him with solicitation of a child.
Everybody has the right of innocent until proven guilty, but surely scary for any of his clients. Hope none of them have kids in the house.
I am old enough to remember when they only had manual screw drivers and thicker wood screws that needed to be pre-drilled and lubed with soap.
Go buy a modern “cheap” wood screw. Not a deck screw. An actual wood screw. Pre-drill the correct size hole, including the countersink, and use the correct size manual Phillips screwdriver. You will never strip out the screws.
Now take a 500 RPM impact driver that has almost enough torque to remove lug nuts, a worn or wrong size bit, and a thin shank screw that was only designed to hold down deck boards and the slightest slip or misalignment and have this photo.
We all do it because it is fast/easy. Just understand that you are doing things the convenient way instead of the right way, and you have to expect the stuff to sometimes not work aa advertised because of it.
Use find

How to say AWS without saying AWS.
100% this. My sister had a nightmare rental experience. The rental company was sold out on gas cars and gave her a Hyundai EV.
She had to drive about 200 miles through some remote areas. When she left, the car said 300 miles. She figured 50% was a good enough buffer. She started driving and range dropped quickly. About 100 mi into the trip, it was saying 40 miles left.
She was in the middle of nowhere with spotty cell reception worried that she would be stranded in the desert. She was afraid enough to call her daughter and say, “If you don’t hear from me, send help.”
The only charger she could find was at a Hyundai dealer. She just made it, but had to sleep in the car until the next morning when they opened to get the car charged.
She swears never again.
One of the hurdles to ARM is that you need to recompile and maintain a separate version of every piece of software for the different processors.
This is a much easier task for a tightly controlled ecosystem like Mac than the tons of different suppliers Windows ecosystem. You can do some sort of emulation to run non-native stuff, but at the cost of the optimization that you were hoping to gain.
Another OS variation also adds a big cost/burden to enterprise customers where they need to manage patches, security, etc.
I would expect to see more inroads in non-corporate areas following Apple success, but not any sort of explosion.
Enshitification won’t stop until the frogs realize that they are being boiled to death and jump out of the pot.
Found the script for the next John Wick movie.
Does the group have any archive, mailing lists, ticket system, etc, where they work on and document the work that they have been doing?
Past questions and answers will tell you common issues, solutions, should point you towards the areas where you need to focus.
It’s no mystery if you consider the world at the time and the target audience.
Home computers were only a couple of years past where you had to solder the chips on yourself and still in nerdy kid domain.
There was a big overlap with the Dungeons and Dragans crowd. Puzzles and imagining yourself as some character were a huge appeal.
Now factor in that the underwear section of the Sears catalog was still the closest thing to porn as most 12 year olds could get their hands on.
The Farmers Daughter. It was a text-based video game for the C=64 similar to Zork.
The premise was that you are a traveling lightening salesman whose car breaks down. You stop at a farmhouse to use their phone, and the beautiful daughter answers the door.
Your mission is to try to bang her. If the farmer catches you, he shoots you with his shotgun. If her brothers catch you, they’ll analy rape you to death. You need condoms but they are stuck to the shelf.
pushing for staff to put in more overtime
But only salary staff who don’t get compensated for overtime. Most companies would gladly take 100+ hours and only pay for 40 if they could get away with it
People who have exonerating evidence show it, and everything goes away without any civil or criminal trials.
People who have only bullshit lose trials and get criminal charges because all they have are lies. Their only play is to keep doubling down on the lies.
Knock off version of the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile for guys with little weiners.
Seems like your edge server is acting as a proxy for a media server on some other host on your LAN.
You want to make sure that the media server software is setup securely, patched, and properly isolated from anything else in LAN should that become compromised. Proxy closes off a lot of attack vectors but not application vulnerabilities. The Lastpass hack happened because of some vulnerability in an employees home plex server.
What do you think will be the first fast food franchise on Mars?
My guess is Subway. Don’t need to cook anything and all of the ingredients already have enough preservatives to make the journey.
If they kill the Christian Edition, it will be back in a few days.
This seems the most likely reason. It is sort of like they teach in first aid. You don’t say someone call 911 because everyone thinks someone else will. You need to tell one person directly.
The problem here is that it is not a group of untrained bystanders stumbling upon a surprise emergency. There is supposed to be a pre-established chain of command and group to take these reports and ensure that they are investigated.
Hell, I was part of events where governors made appearances, and the county had their communication command post setup and even gave radios and a briefing to our volunteers at gates and all of the area leads to report anything directly to the command post.
