I want to use Raylib, but mentioning it here on the fediverse doesn’t get much of a response (I can’t see a raylib community from my instance). My choice of language probably doesn’t help, though.

My first issue is wanting vertex colors on 3D models and I am not getting this (this may be a problem with the bindings I’m using, naylib(nim-lang)). The second would be needing guidance for the 2D polygon text loader that I started.

Maybe I could make simple GUI applications with raygui, but I don’t currently really have many viable ideas on what I would want to make.

To OP: Another potential option is using Godot w/bindings. Design is pretty fast and flexible, then using signals is super easy.

I’ve tested some frameworks (specific to my language, so not really helpful to most), the one that I liked more said it was declarative user interface framework based on GTK though I would prefer a similar thing for Qt and there wasn’t an ability to automatically scale text size to better fill the available button size (I was testing an adventure-book reader and hoping to use unicode characters).

Frameworks for single page applications (or some other browser-based tech) might be ok for simple stuff. Similarly, I’ve liked the idea of TUI frameworks (yeah, because htop) but haven’t really tried that yet.

Long enough to accept it. Lots of reasons that ultimately add up to being an inadequate person, but also no transportation/income in a semi-rural area (also health/personality issues) so I’m a shut-in and thus don’t ever meet people. That said, even in school/college it’s not like I ever really made strong connections with people, romantic or otherwise. Non-religious in USA (esp. given rural) certainly doesn’t (and more so didn’t) help with a dating pool either.

And even if none of those were issues, I’m just not that interesting. I suspect the people who might like to be around me are probably also in their house more-often-than-not, and not within any distance/likelihood of meeting.

Though this may be an obvious suggestion, the channel is not obscure (Ross’s Game Dungeon for reviews, also a recent video/series on publisher destroying their games).

Unless you specifically want content made using newer games? Prettier visuals? Would the non-YTP stuff that uses TF2 (or Source in general I guess) count, or maybe you want something in a specific setting/game-you-play?

KiB, MiB, GiB etc are more clear. It makes a big difference especially 1TB vs 1TiB.

The American way would probably be still using the units you listed but still meaning 1024, just to be confusing.

Either that or maybe something that uses physical measurement of a hard-drive (or CD?) using length. Like that new game is 24.0854 inches of data (maybe it could be 1.467 miles of CD?).

I was speaking for my personal situation (I have not left the house since then), the important bit about the trail is about having a destination and not needing to ride a bike on roads (particularly in a rural area w/larger distance).

NYC is a completely different scenario, and being able to walk (w/public transport too) fills that same niche. Also bike lanes and parks.

I also like riding a bike because of health issues, it’s lower impact and faster (more airflow plus the trail is mostly shaded). That and I don’t want to jog near the road or in a ditch. Also I don’t think I could walk as far as I’ve biked before (11 miles and then back again), even just for the fact there’s just something so boring and uncomfortable about walking even a block (at least around here, I don’t remember walking in the city being like that, maybe scenery or smooth/level footing helps).

Some of the reasons for that are relatively modern. Sedentary jobs and also sedentary commuting (car-centric travel), lack of robust+accessible infrastructure (for instance the trail local to me is still closed from ~6months ago, uncertain end). That and most food that isn’t made-from-scratch having a ton of added sugar, even things like bread and ketchup that people consider staple foods.

A lot of that goes away when you can just throw money at it (or said benefits are thrown at you). Time and space end up being a result of money too, particularly when money is a limit which is true for most people.

I don’t know, I think a lot of modern life things have broken the capacity/effectiveness for solidarity in a lot of ways. Infrastructure, cost-of-living, surveillance state/police brutality, corporate money/efforts, underhanded politics etc. The worst part is that wins were made in the past but were undone systemically… and without fixing the broken political system first (if that even happens), some things won’t change for generations.

At least that’s how I feel as a broke shut-in in semi-rural USA… I’m just stuck.

Just to add, I would argue that by definition of prefixes it is 1000.

However there are other terms to use, in this case Kibibyte (kilo binary byte, KiB instead of just KB) that way you are being clear on what you actually mean (particularly a big difference with modern storage/file sizes)

Weaker, also if you look at the same source with a graph of 2005-2021 you will see that it’s going down faster for below-poverty-level the most (bringing them closer together, 95/70/45 in 2005 to 72/60/46 in 2021). I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that the peak of this graph (before it starts falling for all-but-the-richest) is in 2008.

But also I think this data would probably look different if people living in multi-generational households (or otherwise having family who provide free childcare) was taken into account (which is to say that people aware they have no support will be more reluctant to have kids). On a different note, income alone is leaving out other important factors like the cost-of-living/housing in their area.

Because those dots are countries (with vastly different social and economic structures) not people. The people in the lower-income countries probably don’t depend on money in their lives as much as people in richer countries do. Your source also lists other reasons.

Also I’d say go back in time here in the US and you’d see something similar here with farm families, but that makes less sense now when land/housing is expensive and giant expensive machinery (that you probably wouldn’t trust anybody else with) does much of the work. That and 100 other factors that make it not work like that.

It seems to me that atlas orthogonal adjustment is more of a real thing offered than just getting your neck twisted, then again as someone who probably needs that (I had whiplash many years ago) I have no idea if the places near me have the equipment for it (or x-ray stuff needed) so that along with paperwork/scheduling has stopped me.
