  • Yes, and when all the other car manufacturers add it, then it’s all on the consumer too, right?

    Enshittification is a problem, because in our “this quarter’s profits trump all” world, sales leaders would be fired if they don’t join the race to the bottom on whatever their product. This then takes away the power of the consumer marketplace to push back by not buying shit products and ideas. Remember airline bag fees? Know anyone who doesn’t think they’re a bullshit cash grab? Yet do 100% of consumers thinking it’s shit have any power to change it in an industry with ~4 choices who all implemented similar policies within months of each other? There are countless other examples.

    The mindset you argue pretends there isn’t collusion, and that there IS a competitive marketplace.






  • If you’re asking in earnest, the last decade has shown for profit corps know no bounds in using technology to extract, poorly protect, and often aggregate and then will make any attempt to monetize possible–often retroactively. While a dishwasher might not have much data in itself to exploit, if your internet connected TV, Car or phone which is constantly scanning for nearby WI-FI items or networks decided to start cataloguing them…well then that would just be a Tuesday for Google, Ford or Sony right?

    The more data points, the worse. More breaches, more creepy facts about us floating around in some creepy company or regime’s stockpile of data to be used, unilaterally against me. Or maybe the next company to buy the current company I’m happy with. Or the next regime that decides people like me aren’t full humans. Between your computer and phone, most people’s lives are somewhat laid bare, but add in car tracking which auto companies have stuck their funnel into during the last 5 years, add in appliances, put Wi-Fi if your shower handle…again the people adding Wi-Fi to things like a dishwasher that don’t need it have only one thing to gain, monetizing your data and selling it to someone who wants to control you in some way.














  • The #1 feature they won’t add: I hated this job.

    They always show industry jobs and suggested connections from all your jobs…if they were human and not interested in maximizing data suck they would have talked to 3-5 users out of their millions and realized people have bad job experiences and want to delete the memory, not be reprompted about it for eternity. Also, even when you decline a suggested person, imagine your worst coworker, they suggest them again later. Fucking stupid robot company
