I’m disappointed that liberals who have been smart for so long can so easily become dumb as bricks because they lack the emotional maturity to criticize their own side/admit that the other side is right on this issue, if only incidentally. At the least one should be able to acknowledge that it’s been expedient for the Right to champion free speech because doing so directly protects their interests—and I don’t give them any more credit than that—but at least they’re unintentionally doing the right thing. The Left unfortunately deserves criticism, not credit, because for reasons it’s been expedient for them to censor speech because it directly forwards their interests.

In the end it’s folly to think that any side is necessarily better or more just than the other, or to think sides have any important meaning at all beyond logistical maneuvering. It baffles me that the vast majority of adults in America can watch their enemy do a thing and vehemently denounce it, then turn around and watch their ally do something perfectly analogous, if not exactly the same, and stubbornly defend it without giving an inch; without a modicum of empathy, remorse, or self-reflection. Worse is that none of it even fucking matters. People are ready to have a political orgasm when the other side gets caught mishandling secret files, but get bored hearing about how the economy is burning to the ground. Neither side gives a fuck about anything that matters because unless it can be used as political ammo, neither side will bring it up unless they have to.

A little bit of my soul died the day I realized the party I championed wasn’t so much better as it was not currently in power (or in danger of losing power), and was simply temporarily more interested in saying and occasionally even doing the right things—the absolute least amount possible—to return to power (or remain in power). Those that think I’m being the least bit cynical should know that they are not qualified to have any kind of meaningful or productive discussion on these topics—they’re wasting their breath at best, unwitting tools of propaganda at worst—and their partisan bickering collectively is literally the biggest reason we will never get out of this mess. A lot of you are young and I don’t hold it against you, but don’t take too long to get your shit straight. The world really is depending on you to direct your energy at the right causes, and Elon Musk isn’t one of them.

My first-ever Nvidia card was a 3080Ti. After installation I was genuinely confused and kept clicking around everywhere looking for the real settings panel.

Actually I remember, my older laptop had a MX150 (lol) so I did know all about GeForce Control Panel and Experience—I just thought they were the outdated bargain-basement solution assigned to POS hardware like mine, not worth (understandably) slapping shiny new chrome on.

Subsequently I had automatically assumed without a doubt in my mind that the pandemic card I had paid for in tainted blood would have some uber slick new interface that I couldn’t wait to play around with.

Needless to say, my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined.

Even if it’s counted, is it even more dangerous, counted using the same metrics? I have no idea, but it’s not far-fetched that it’s not, at least if we mean American soldiers. Like, it’s way more dangerous to be an Iraqi civilian than an American soldier.

I would add to the extant conversation by saying that many food ingredients in powdered/granular form are prone to clumping (usually with no ill effect other than inconvenience), and are prevented from doing so by the addition of various anti-caking agents. I can’t speak to the food safety of those agents, but personally, I’d rather deal with the clumps.

Can autocomplete fill in a YouTube URL or Spotify playlist name? Can I browse the list of what’s available and filter, drill down, poke around according to my whimsy?

Or if I’m accessing a local file, how do I find that one video of my cat named VID-004326.MP4?

Can I autocomplete the parameters themselves, which are betimes lengthy and unwieldy to type out?

Even if it’s possible, and I’ve mastered every arcane parameter necessary to do it, is it really faster / more convenient than doing it through a GUI?

Maybe there are good answers to the above questions—I don’t know and would love to find out—but they and many more like them are surely reasonable and far from meme-worthy, or else I’m missing something huge.

I will never forgive them for killing the headphone jack—but I at least understand the business model behind it. Samsung’s decision to follow suit likewise makes sense.

As for the other manufacturers who jumped on the bandwagon for no reason other than that they saw the big kids do it—handicapping their devices with what is to many a dealbreaker issue, without offering their own line of wireless earbuds / headphones to capitalize off of—I can feel only pity and disdain.
