Why don’t we do that now? I suspect it’s because they made sure it could never happen again.
Very cool piece of software. Excited to get into it.
I think it specifically works for links. Doesn’t work for text posts, at least as far as I can tell.
There’s actually a lot of theory and early work out there on the topic of federated search. While existing search aggregators like Searx and YaCY certainly qualify as federated, search infrastructure built from the ground up with decentralization in mind would look very different. All that to say this isn’t necessarily the end of the line.
If y’all haven’t already definitely post your communities in !newcommunities@lemmy.world
Post links and the discussion will come if the community has even just a few subscribers.
Post y’all. Everybody’s still sorting by new and new comments. Now’s the time to make it happen.
Super annoying but a great time to bring up Lemmy’s crossposting feature! If the image is hosted nonlocally and posted separately, Lemmy can automatically combine the posts and show it as crosspost links. Seems like this feature should work for local media as well but does not seem to in this case. Now this could be user error or this may be a place that the feature can be improved.

Federated search is possible but has not gotten a lot of attention yet.
Also positive masculinity tends to still be rooted in fairly patriarchal ideas of what it means to be a man in ways that liberation from gender roles specifically is not.
Quite a few of the popular instances don’t even have downvotes.
Are snaps hard to avoid?
Doesn’t Ubuntu have a metric shit ton of legitimate problems these days? I thought people had mostly moved away from it as the go to distro
This would be amazing. Huge opportunity here but of course some of the highest moderation requirements of any community. Near the levels required for something like r/ask_historians
This should be long fixed. I think people who have been taking about this recently are in instances that are having trouble helping up with traffic? Definitely not sure
Happy to see it! Have you guys reached out to the mods of this community yet? Some high profile communities that have migrated from reddit have merged with existing communities (See !android@lemdro.id)
In a similar vein, I’ve also seen Nextcloud used for this purpose.
Does anybody know if this is a feature of a decimal system?
