A TOS doesn’t give you the legal right to destroy someone’s property… At worst they could deny service
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
As long as there are people willing to kill to oppose it, death is an unfortunate necessity for democracy’s preservation.
“OKAY, BUYING MORE PREPARATION H”
I don’t think that was ever available in my country
I’d consider paying a few bucks a month, but not $10 or more
Get rid of shitty YouTube music and give me a tier that’s no ads only
They would need a coherent argument for that instead of just rambling about slavery
Wasn’t that the hivemimd robot guy from Mass Effect
A model trained on privately owned, properly licensed, or exclusively public works wouldn’t be a problem.
This is how we end up with only corpo owned AIs being allowed to exist imo, places like stock photo sites are the only ones with large enough repositories of images to train AI that they have all the legal rights to
The way I see it, either generative AI is legal, free for everyone to run locally, and the created works are public domain, OR, everyone pays $20/mo to massive faceless corpos for the rest of their lives to have the privilege of access to it because they’re the only ones who own all (or have enough money to license) the IP needed to train them
The old two word captchas were one word that Google knows in order to test if you’re human, and one word scanned from Google’s book scanning program that their algorithms failed to properly OCR, meaning for the second word you could type in whatever you wanted and you would pass the captcha
Sites were allowed to use recaptcha for free because their users were actually doing work training neural nets to read books better, if a large percentage of their users are saying every unknown scan is the n-word, I could see why Google wouldn’t want them having access to it
We need public housing in the US to be a normal thing that normal people live in, instead of something that’s only built in dangerous crime ridden areas nobody wants to live
Google banned 4chan from using recaptcha at the time because everyone was just typing swear words in place of the scanned word that Google couldn’t OCR
Apparently about half of Americans have money in the stock market (I would assume almost exclusively due to their 401k/IRAs)
One argument could be that anything that incentivizes people to sell their stocks isn’t a good thing
The more people buying and selling at any given time, the more volatile the price could become, it’s so easy to buy and sell stocks that we already have to have high frequency trading disincentives by having a really high capital gains tax on stocks that were held for a short period of time
Property is a lot less volatile, and there’s already a rather large natural incentive to hold on to it for long periods of time (moving is a pain), and taxing unrealized gains on it (essentially, paying estimated taxes on a theoretical future sale) is unlikely to really motivate anyone to sell their house
You can always look into hosting your own personal instance, then you choose the communities you see content from
The enshittification will continue until profit margins improve
I had to leave lemm.ee because they didn’t defederate from hexbear, any even slightly political post got spammed with 300 giant shock images, plus they suffer from the nazi bar syndrome but with tankies instead of nazis
Just two friends hanging out with their spear and their rifle respectively at hand
To be fair to the guy, over the summer the FBI literally raided his home, took every single electronic device, and are (still?) refusing to give any of it back, so I’m willing to give him a pass if his home network infrastructure isn’t currently up to snuff
Hexbear suffers from the nazi bar problem, they’re not ALL tankies, but they sure do hang out with a lot of them
I just don’t have the time to sus out who’s who and it’s much easier (and less massive-shock-image-spamming) to use an instance that’s defederated with them
