minus-squareImgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up4·11 months agoYou complain about overused memes on Lemmy. I complain that my butt itches. We are not the same.
minus-squareirmoz@reddthat.comlinkfedilinkarrow-up0arrow-down2·11 months agoIt was overused the first time it was used. “We are not the same” is such elitist garbage. I can’t believe a meme used for looking down on people and being arrogant has seen such wide use.
minus-squareb00m@kbin.socialOPlinkfedilinkarrow-up2·11 months agoWhile I agree that some folk would do anything to see themselves above other people I think you might be missing the irony of the meme
minus-squarethanks_shakey_snake@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up2·11 months agoYeah lol it’s almost always ironic-- “You do this thing for some normal reason. I do it for a weird reason that may reveal a salient character flaw.” If somebody did use it to actually self-elevate or gatekeep, that would be pretty cringe. But almost all of the usage I see is ironic.
