I’m just imagining someone on lemmy.world going on a long, profanity-filled rant, and people on lemmy.ml having no idea what they’re talking about.

I wonder how that would have worked out, with the memes and all.
Back in December I spent $550 on a refurbrished home theater projector. After actually thinking things through, I realized that in my current living situation, the whole idea isn’t going to work. I went back to watching movies on my TV and sometimes even my monitor.
I still haven’t taken the projector out of the plastic wrapping, and I’ve been contemplating re-selling it on eBay so I can at least get my money back…but I highly doubt that will happen.

You are being paranoid.
Assuming you’re using Github to publish your own free and open-source software, remember that this is one of the basic tenets of FOSS:
The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose
Even purposes you don’t like or agree with.
If you’re worried about megacorps stealing your code without giving you credit, just licence your code under the GPL or AGPL. They won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.
26·6 months agoThere is another fan project called “4K77”, which also attempts to restore the original version of Star Wars. They somehow managed to get their hands on the original film reels, and scanned them digitally in 4K. It looks very grainy, but this is to preserve the original experience of watching the film in theaters in 1977.
So if you want a modern-looking and cleaned-up version of the original “New Hope”, then watch Harmy’s Despecialized Edition (keep in mind it’s only 720p). If you want the genuine '70s theater experience with the film grain and everything, watch 4K77.
