Ubuntu is just a bunch of apps running on Debian! Did you know you can take Ubuntu app .deb files and run them on Debian?
Look. The R1 is stupid, but this isn’t the reason why.

So they’ll stop injecting ads in the middle of videos at the worst possible times right?
…
So they’ll stop injecting ads… Right?
I’d be perfectly happy for a candidate to do the second answer
I prefer a single ultra wide because it doubles as a dock. I can get all my USB devices and laptop power connected with a single USBC cable.
Damn it, all those stupid hacking scenes in CSI and stuff are going to be accurate soon
I learned vim in college when I needed to edit files over ssh. It’s incredibly impressive as far as cli editors go, but I just don’t see how it’s more productive than a well set up ide with hotkeys.
What matters is consistency and our time system has tons of crazy inconsistent shit in our. Everyone knows about leap years, but do you know about leap seconds? Imagine trying to write a function to convert unix time to a current date and suddenly all your times are a second off.
Just look at this insane bullshit nonsense. The added complexity of time zones and daylight saving time is nothing compared to simply supporting our time system.
A smart VPN will avoid going to jail for you by not storing any of the data law enforcement wants in the first place.

The difference between a junior and senior developer is that a senior developer actually understands what he’s copy pasting
The difference is that oligarchs are in the government’s pocket, while the government is in the pocket of billionaires.
Considering how much cars cost I wonder if ride shares are even more expensive.
That’s not that bad unless that’s already adjusted for inflation. If you haven’t adjusted it already then 150k would be 310k today. Where I’m at house costs have increased 5x after adjusting for inflation.
Because it’s convenient to be able to drive a car? There are lots of cases when you may borrow a car to do things. Teenagers might borrow their parents car to do errands and stuff.
That’s still a major software bug. What a POS.
My issue with AI art is that it makes laziness easier. I hate seeing shitty AI art where it looks really gross when you look at the details. I’ve seen big companies post really shitty AI art that was horrifying once you look closer. Like Microsoft put a disgusting image of jack-o’-lantern up as the background of Bing for Halloween and the faces were just grotesque and uneasy to look at.
Anything can be art, it just needs someone to curate it and present it as art. The more important question is if it’s good art.
Some of it’s really gross looking
It can potentially allow 1 worker to do the job of 10. For 9 of those workers, they have been replaced. I don’t think they will care that much for the nuance that they technically weren’t replaced by AI, but by 1 co-worker who is using AI to be more efficient.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t have enough jobs any more, because when in human history have we ever become more efficient and said “ok, good enough, let’s just coast now”? We will just increase the ambition and scope of what we will build, which will require more workers working more efficiently.
But that still really sucks because it’s not going to be the same exact jobs and it will require re-training. These disruptions are becoming more frequent in human history and it is exhausting.
We still need to spread these gains so we can all do less and also help those whose lives have been disrupted. Unfortunately that doesn’t come for free. When workers got the 40 hour work week it was taken by force.
