In this age of contraception, it’s more a matter of wanting to reproduce (and how often) rather than merely being able to. I can’t shake off the impression that less educated people are reproducing at a way higher pace, producing many offspring of which in before times many would not have reached reproduction themselves, but now they do.

Offshore wind was the best way to go here. We’re lucky with the North Sea, it’s relatively shallow (just up to 40m deep in many areas) and very windy. Turbines are enormous machines now reaching more than 200m high and more than 10MW, and growing, but all are still rather far out it even barely disturbs views from land. I’m sure there’s a lot of room to grow offshore wind in gulf of Mexico and east coast. West Coast would be harder I think because deep.

google controls the portals through which many people search. Defaults will always be google when people are using android and or chrome. Yahoo, infoseek or altavista never had anywhere near a grip on people like google does today. It takes effort to change now, while in the olden days you just had to change your 1 start page on the browser, things are a lot more embedded and thus customers locked in. Thinking it will switch over to a better alternative like it did back then, purely because it is a lot better, is a bit naive I think, unfortunately.

i dunno, especially the music is really vast availability of full albums etc. Youtube + ublock is kinda my go to music. Used to search and store gigabytes, but it’s just not the same, not as easy. If youtube dies (ergo: it succeeds in blocking adblocking and third party such as newpipe), i’ll have a hard time finding alternatives tbh, that are just as user friendly.

I have the impression ad block literacy has declined a lot. 10-15 years ago I’ld be surprised if someone of friends, peers, same age group people didn’t have ad blocking. Now… I’m often surprised if they do, because it became less common to “put in the effort” of using ff with ublock.

It just got pushed too far. Like Google search itself. Most people are fine with a short ad once in a while, while paying with their invaluable personal data, but they push it too far and make it unwatchable, like Google search itself became garbage because of all the Google pushed SEO bs.

turkey has a strategic position towards the bosporus and russia, why they get away with a lot of bullshit too, israel is a more important as a reliable foot on the ground for guaranteeing the north end of the suez canal and the eastern end of the mediterranean. Cyprus also plays that role, but is also contested area greece/turkey. Never put all your eggs in one basket, that kind of thing. Carriers are nice but a always a risk (they might not seem so now, but you never know). Israel also offers an extra access point north side of the red sea, would the suez be unaccessible.

I’m not at all saying the usa should just blindly follow israel on its warpath as it has been for many decades. They should try to get netanyahu towards the exit, sooner the better, but just leaving israel altogether is probably not in the best interest for the usa itself, long term geostrategically.

You can’t be on top of the global trade and neglect strategic points that protect strategic trade routes. I mean, you can, but it will make USA shrink in global importance even faster. You leave, others fill the void, pay the price, reap the benefits. Isolationism isn’t likely to save the USA world dominance. Dominance which is the very biggest reason your currency is the most stable in the world: it’s backed by the biggest military apparatus ever, stop caring about the world, find out soon when your prices skyrocket and economy crashes. The real question is how the USA should behave in this, not if they should do a thing but rather what they should do.

I’m mainly complaining it’s a stupid ass way of microsoft making their bloatware tracking operating system complete. There is no good reason for them to put this stuff in notepad instead of, again, where it belongs and where 99.000 other features to juggle your texts around have been put before: Word, O365.

Technology for rich text formatting has existed for many many decades. It was not a part of Notepad. People using it were well aware of this limitation, and used notepad because that technology was not a part of it.

A non-used feature will still cause unnecessary data-traffic. At the very least to install it and update it periodically, more likely constantly because it will become part of the microsoft telemetry / advertisement profiling / tracking package that is called windows.

You want the feature. I’m interested, too. But I don’t want the feature in notepad. I want notepad to stay as freaking basic as possible, because the main thing I (and I think other people too) like about notepad is the incredible speeeeeeed at which it opens on any device because it’s “show text” and nothing else.

That’s near impossible. It will bloat notepad, at the very least. Longer loading, more chances of crashing, creating unnecessary data-traffic… literally no one using notepad in the last 25 years needed any of this, they used it for it’s simplicity, speed, reliability, all of which it becomes less with features like these. Put that shit in word and o365, where it belongs.
