Not sure why that’s needed since it’s listed as an optional parameter, but it is. You’ll also need to use max_depth or use limit and page to get them all.

I usually use max_depth and load all of the top-level comments and 2 levels of replies to those (max_depth = 3) and if any of those have replies, I have a “Load more” button below the comment which will fetch again with that comment as the parent id.

All I can say is there’s typically an implicit negative connotation when using the form “those people” regardless of intent. Usually it’s used that way when stereotyping or otherwise making a blanket statement about a group, so even benign uses of the phrase tend to sound hostile.

My guess is that “those persons” sounds more specific.

Most of the ones near me just ask if you want to “round up” or make a static donation amount. I’m guessing the coupon book is nothing more than the coupons they’d send out in the weekly paper. Having received similar coupon books as “welcome aboard” gifts, most of those deals aren’t even all that good. Plus, they likely expire, so it puts a time rush on using them and draws in business.

Yeah, it is very ridiculous. When I check out at the grocery store, I don’t think the cashier is an extra hard worker because they’re standing. I just think corporate is a bunch of d-bags for pointlessly making them stand.

Yeah, this definitely seems more like script kiddie than adversarial nation-state. We’re not big enough here, yet anyway, that I think we’d be attracting that kind of attention and effort. However, it is a good practice run for identifying this kind of thing.

I’ve got a love-hate relationship with private space companies.

Love:

• More and cheaper access to space is ultimately a good thing (gotta get to the Star Trek future somehow)
• What SpaceX has done with reusable boosters is game changing. I hate Musk, but I try to not think about him when I think of SpaceX

Hate:

• It’s more “socializing the cost, privatizing the profits” where much of their funding came or continues to come from government grants/contracts. It’s almost the same model as the pharmaceutical industry.
• It’s a billionaire’s game, and we’re all being exploited to fund it (beyond tax dollars at least partially funding them).

As far as NASA facilities getting their funding: Remember that SLS exists and is made entirely out of pork. So at least those facilities will continue to get funding because they’re essentially jobs programs for a handful of states.
