Yeah, this was bound to happen. The Internet was designed to be decentralized and then we went ahead and made social network platforms that were so popular that hundreds of thousands of users conglomerated into a centralized server (or server cluster technically), completely defeating the purpose. It took time, but this is exactly how it’s supposed to be.

Yes but no, I rather thank the people that made the platform of Lemmy, the apps and community of Lemmy/Kbin and such.

They are the ones making this possible.

Alternatively, stop talking about reddit and spez entirely? Stop letting them live rent free in your head.

Ugh. We need to stop talking about Reddit outside of the relevant communities. Seriously, it’s been a week. It’s done. It’s over. Let’s move on.

The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. Don’t give him the satisfaction of having any legacy on this platform.

Absolutely this. Can you imagine him looking at the main page of most instances over the last few weeks? If he has the typical tech ceo arrogant narcissism he was probably so pleased even though the discussion was universally negative

Same deal with Elon. He doesn’t really give a shit when people roast and mock him. It’s just about achieving notoriety

But it’s in the same vein of the old “don’t feed the trolls” adage. Some people really just can’t avoid giving attention to the toxic environments and people even when they know it’s a bad idea. But it’s very similar to a child who is throwing shit at you instead of asking you for attention appropriately. You have to teach the child the appropriate way to ask and ignore the problem behavior. But our mass media is set up to constantly provide these dicks the attention they crave and platform awful disgusting behavior so culture in decline I guess

I now downvote most Reddit meta content if it’s not constrained to a Reddit specific community. I see it as bad for the health of the site if every community becomes focused on Reddit drama.

I enjoy Reddit drama sometimes, but it can’t be so much of the front page and it needs to be using appropriate communities so that people can just unsubscribe if they want to.

Reddit drama should be constrained in their respective communities. It’s getting out of hand.

Read “who moved my cheese” - be grateful for the cheese you now have. But giving thanks to who took away the old cheese forcing you to move on? Nope, mice that move on don’t do that.

Zen story: two monks walking a path come across a woman stuck trying to cross a stream, one of the monks carry her over and they continue their journey. Shortly the other monk asks “I am troubled brother, we are prohibited from touching a woman, why did you do that?”, the other monk replies “I put her down by the river, for me that is in the past, but for you, you are still carrying her”.

I’m choosing not to acknowledge him at all. He was just part of the natural order of things. Reddit has been going downhill for years and it was time to move on for me. Thankful for lemmy actually, I needed somewhere to go

Honestly, Lemmy as it is now already is way more fun and engaging than Reddit ever was for me. On Reddit, I’m mainly a lurker. Here, I want to participate.
