Progressive tax brackets. This hypothetical tax is only on money earned over 10M/1M.

Bush Jr has a closed trail on his ranch that he’s allowed to drive on. Any public roads, he’s getting chauffered by the Secret Service.
Or one less cup of coffee
Man, I knew fingerprint encryption was bad but that is nuts.
Latvia is actually in NATO, not just receiving support from NATO countries. This is meaningless bluster.
It was an Indian man, but I’m aware of any evidence he was an operative of the Indian government.
Edit: Dumbass me, commenting before reading the article.
Sarcasm noted, but: mibi/gibi are the powers of 2 version.
We all say megabit or gigabit when talking about internet speeds, but in many cases under the hood it’s actually measured in mibi/gibibits. Just means it’s 2% more when converted into base 10 ;)
FWIW, this isn’t a “now” problem, it’s been the US position for a long time. Still shitty though.
You sound like the CEO at my old company 🤣
Fediverse makes improvements on existing social media formats, but there are so many issues inherent to online social media that cannot be fixed by slightly changing the format.
Short-term, consequence-free interaction with strangers is not a substitute for actual social interaction, but it’s become one of the default modes of socialization in the modern world. It’s a bell that can’t be un-rung, but moving from reddit to lemmy isn’t going to mute it in any significant way either.
I’d say solidly GenZ. Thinking that everybody else is stuck in the vortex of lies but you have now broken free by [doing something only marginally different]. The kind of idealism you see in youth. Fediverse apps help with some of the problems we see in other social media, but ultimately it’s a new diet, same shit.
I read once that a major reason the coffee is supposed to be good, is that the animals (in the wild) tend to seek out the ripest, healthiest coffee beans to eat. They’re abundant (prior to human intervention), so why settle for less?
But then we cage them and force-feed them whatever, so they’re just medium (or low) quality beans to start with. So even if you look past the cruelty, it’s not even the quality of coffee the reputation suggests.
Edison, Vanderbilt, Carnegie, Rockerfeller…
Same shit back then. Careful of the rose colored glasses.
Super loose definitions of “every single” and “recall” here.
The oldest models are recalled, yes. Most of the units or on the world just need a software update.
Ah, Voat. Come for the freedom of speech, decide not to stay because ABSOLUTE freedom of speech inevitably becomes racist.
I think it’s just a symptom of “people”.
I grew up near the Mississippi. More of a wide brown line.
Similar to what you’ll find on the underwear of a cop that got spooked by a citizen with a cell phone.
I watched a video about maintenence for commercial passenger jets recently. Light engine maintenence takes on the order of a week, heavy maintenence takes several months. For heavy maintenence, they literally disassemble every component of the engine, so even if everything goes perfectly, it still takes forever.
That said, I imagine they just swap a new engine into the plane while the old one is under maintenence.
Because unemployment isn’t really that low. When we talk about “people here now who could use those jobs”, we’re usually talking about people in dead end jobs that could use a career job.
So great, pull them into our elder care system, give them a career level up…now their old jobs are still unfilled. And while we’re super shitty as a country towards entry level service workers, we also as a country really want those jobs to be filled. So we’d need to fill that gap in the employment pool somehow.
